Dr Chris Higgins

Dr Chris Higgins qualified in the UK where he also obtained specialist qualifications in general medicine (MRCP). He married and moved to Australia where he made the lifestyle choice to go into general rather than specialist practice, joining his father-in- law, the late Dr George Morrison, at the Stonnington Medical Centre in Glenferrie Road Malvern. Before joining Dr Morrison, Chris worked at the Royal Women’s Hospital where he obtained a Diploma in Obstetrics and went on to practice obstetrics for ten years. He also spent two years working in Paediatrics at the RCH before commencing General Practice. He moved to the Toorak Clinic in 2003.
Dr Higgins special interests are in general medicine, skin cancer and skin surgery. He also enjoys travel medicine. He is happy to see new patients of any age and is interested in preventative and holistic care. He has an interest in seeing patients for second opinions in cases of difficult diagnosis. He believes in unhurried consultations and is keen to make his patients feel at ease.
Dr Higgins teaches Monash University medical students during their fourth year at the end of which they take their final examinations. These students sit in with him every Tuesday. All patients who want to see him on that day are asked permission to have a student present during the consultation. He also has an interest in working with refugees and works at the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre in Footscray on Monday afternoons.
Dr Higgins is married with three adult children and five grandchildren. His wife works in Childcare.
